Our Mission
Our History

CTB is the leading publisher of standardized achievement tests for children and adults. With a staff of doctoral-level researchers, scientists, mathematicians, writers, and editors, we assist thousands of school districts across the nation and score more than 20 million test documents each year.

A division of The McGraw-Hill Companies, CTB was founded in 1926, by Ethel and Willis Clark, whose original mission continues today: To Help the Teacher Help the Child.

How does CTB fulfill its mission?
With products that meaningfully and reliably assess learning in preschool through adult classes.

With more than 70 years of client focused service, spanning the full range of diverse testing needs, including multilingual students and adults, and those needing special accommodations.

With a staff of dedicated professionals who serve thousands of school districts across the nation, continually updating assessments and meeting the changing needs of educators.

CTB/McGraw-Hill products and services promote excellence in teaching and learning, while providing objective reports of individual student strengths. Test results determine whether students know and understand what they are taught, and identify both students and schools that need to improve performance.

CTB's ability to adapt and customize individual programs, large and small, with integrity and accountability, has inspired confidence throughout the educational community. Working closely with clients, CTB provides tools to measure potential, to chart a course toward improved learning, and to direct students to success.
