Spanish Assessment of Basic Education, Second Edition SABE/2
A nationally normed achievement test designed for Spanish-speaking students in bilingual classrooms.
Request Info
The SABE/2 Spanish-language test battery gives an accurate and useful picture of students' academic strengths and weaknesses and provides the detailed information teachers need to plan effective individual and group instruction.

Spanish-speaking experts developed SABE/2 to include positive cultural references as well as an objective structure targeted to Spanish-language instruction. SABE/2 uses standard Spanish and avoids regionalism and ambiguous words. It is appropriate and relevant to students with various dialects--for example, dialects of Mexico, Puerto Rico, and Cuba.

TCS/2 Recommended Grades, Age Ranges, and Time Limits

SABE/2 norms include Hispanic reference-group norms for Grades 1-12, spring and fall, and national norms for all grades and times of year for reading and mathematics. SABE/2 norms are based on a national sample of students taking an English-language achievement test. These national norms facilitate situations in which comparable scores are needed regardless of language.

Grade Ranges by SABE/2 Test Level
Level Grade Level Grade
1 1.0-1.9 4 3.6-4.9
2 1.6-2.9 5 4.6-6.9
3 2.6-3.9 6 7.0-8.9

NOTE: Functional Level Testing is appropriate only for Reading and Mathematics with national norms. Functional Level Testing is not allowed if you wish to use Hispanic reference-group norms.
