TerraNova content is strongly
aligned with today's classroom curricula. Its focus on basic
skills is clear. To develop our newest TerraNova
series, CTB relied on an expert staff that includes both classroom
teachers and research and development experts. Our development
team pursued four key strategies: |
|
|
 |
|
|
 |
Consultation with educators and education specialists
to define the content of major curriculum areas; |
 |
Review of curriculum guides from states, districts,
and dioceses; |
 |
Examination of the National Educational Goals and national
state content standards; and |
 |
Analysis of the content of widely used textbooks and
basal programs. |
|

To reaffirm our commitment to the customer, we formed an extraordinary
partnership with educators and students. Using the information
collected from these important resources, we reexamined the
test framework developed for TerraNova
CTBS, fine-tuned its widely acclaimed structure, and confirmed
the learning objectives for four major content domains--Reading/Language
Arts, Mathematics,Science, and Social Studies. We created all
new assessment materials for each of these content areas. Then,
in the tradition of our original TerraNova
series, we provided draft asessment materials to educators and
students and asked for feedback--and we listened to the responses.
The result is an assessment that truly reflects today's curriculum. |
