Facilitating the Accommodations Process
The CTB/McGraw-Hill Assessment Accommodations Guide includes several important features in an easy-to-use format. It provides an overview of what the IDEA legislation requires and what specific testing accommodations are appropriate. It includes a valuable five-step process that ensures each student's meaningful involvement in the testing process and promotes effective communication with members of the IEP team.
The guide offers a comprehensive list of common testing accommodations for students so that the IEP team can select from a range of options. It provides a detachable sheet that contains the accommodations plan for the test administrator's reference. This sheet also includes a section in which the test administrator can document the accommodations used, noting any changes that were made in the accommodation plan during the test administration. Additionally, space is provided for noting whether the accommodation interfered with the student's performance or invalidated the test results, and what future accommodations might be considered.
The guide encourages communication with parents/guardians by including a detachable letter explaining why their child will be included in the assessment and what accommodations are recommended.
