Writing Roadmap's extensive selection of writing prompts for Grades 3-12 covers four essay styles, Narrative, Informative/Expository, Descriptive, and Persuasive. Simply select a prompt and have your students write an essay. Teachers can also enter their own essay topics into the program and assign these to students. Feedback may be made available to students during the writing process by specific instructions tailored to each prompt.
Regardless of whether prompts are selected from our library or if they are written by teachers, an automated scorer reviews submitted essays and provides students with instant feedback. Feedback is also given to students during the writing process using instructional tools that include: grammar and syntax, tips to improve essays, sentence diagrams that identify basic grammatical components, spell checking, and a thesaurus. These instructional tools can be individually turned on/off by teachers, depending on the purpose of the assessment. Teachers can also review essays and provide their own comments.
Writing Roadmap's graphic reports provide both holistic and analytic information to better help teachers identify instructional needs, assess student and class results, and compare those results against school and district averages.
